Beautiful day in Plano, Texas today....kids flying in here getting ready for Spring Break and moms having fun looking at all the new merchandise just for them! If you haven't been in in a while, lot's of changes-Candace is back in Plano, after her stint as manager in Colleyville. We missed her, and we're truly glad to have her back in Plano with Allison and Cara. Also, we named Aly Cline the new manager at the Colleyville. They're all busy getting ready for the big "Puttin On the Pink" fashion show hosted by the Kupferle Health Board of the Texas Health Harris Methodist Foundation. on Mar. 23rd. Over one thousand ladies will be present and the proceeds go to underwrite mamograms and screenings for the underserved women of DFW.

We, along with many other businesses are contributing gift certificates and prizes, and best of all, Animal crackers is the exclusive children's store in the show.

So glad the snow is gone...and ready for a beautiful Spring. Come by the stores and visit!!..Bring doggie bones!!

Seasonal Crazies

Wow!, is anyone out there tired of the wind??? First we get wind in March..Ok, so that's normal, but then we get wind and rain in April, and then we get rain, rain, rain and more rain plus wind in May!!! What's that all about?? I'm expecting a plague of locusts next. Well anyway, April was a great month with lot's of dress customers and plenty of events going on. I traveled home to see the folks and who did I run into in the airport? Nick Jonas , of course. Great guy and very polite...took pics with everyone. Actually, I'm pretty sure the people wanted my pic, but were too afraid to ask. He really doesn't act like a bazillionaire, and neither do his peeps. Good to see that these days. One of the best times we had this month was at the Bar Mitzvah of Nicholas Free, son of Jill and Stephen of Dallas. It was held at the Starlight Room (the old Planet Hollywood), and what an experience it was. We entered through a magical star made of balloons and were greeted by two stilted hosts in glittered top hats and tails. then taken into a people filled room of activities including face painting, personalized dog tags, celebrity magazine photos, glow rings into a dance floor with the best DJ in life. I think we counted at least fifty young cuties in Animal Crackers dresses, which is always fun to see. The food was incredible, and I should know (I'm sure I tried everything at least twice). The evening was capped with a professionally produced movie of Nick and Family portraying different shows found on Nickelodeon. (Theme of the night was "Nick at Nite") I've been to several of these events , but was really impressed by all that went into the evening. It doesn't hurt that I love this family dearly and they have been customers of AC forever.

CAMP LETTERS AND STUFF

New merchandise is arriving in the stores daily. Pretty exciting. In addition, kids are already getting ready for summer camps and moms are already shopping for camp gear. Speaking of camp, Diane Falanga, author of a new book concept entitled Camp Letters and purchased by Abrams Image a book publisher, is requesting any and all "hilarious" camp letters you may have recieved from your kids to become part of this compilation.

Camp Letters will include scanned copies of the hand-written notes (showing the child's own penmanship, and illustrations, if any) . They may also include "Bunk Notes" or e-mails that kids have sent home. If you are interested send Original Camp letters, that will be professionally scanned by the publisher, if selected. CHANGES IN KANDI'S FASHION WATCH COLUMN

Well due to economic cutbacks, I have relieved Kandi of her writing position and taken over her blog. (she hadn't posted anything in almost a year any way). I guess she's been too busy greeting customers and that other thing that dogs do regularly. Anyway, things have been busy at AC. New Facebook page, and also one for Blinc. If you're not familiar with Blinc, it's our sister store that caters to a contemporary women generally in the 20's-50's range. It's a bit different than AC , in that it is all women's clothing, shoes and accessories. It's located in The Shops At Legacy (http://www.shopsatlegacy.com/ ) This "California" inspired boutique is a must see for any fashion enthusiast. From it's quirky "Asian bamboo meets metallic" interior, to it's unique collection of contemporary fashion designers including: Alice and Olivia, Lotta, Bordeaux, Madison Marcus, Lauren Moshi, Development, Ankh, Catherine Malandrino, Calleen Cordero, Michelle Jonas, Citrine by the Stones, Marcia Moran, Double Happiness and Claudia Lobao.You can almost feel the ocean breezes from Malibu and smell the eucalyptus in the air as you stroll through this amazing environment. It is very reminiscent of shopping in the eclectic boutiques on Melrose Ave. or strolling down Robertson Avenue. You will not want to miss the incredible jewelry and handbag selection...it is the envy of the DFW/Metroplex! Back to AC, it's been an interesting Spring so far. While the President and Congress have been preaching gloom and doom, our customers have been buying. Now I won't tell you it's as busy as last year, but it's not bad! I would have to say it's due to an outstanding array of merchandise; (probably better than I've ever seen it) and great sales people who are communicating daily with our customers. We also opened a brand new store in Colleyville, TX . Candace Savins is our new manager there, and is joined by Aly Cline, Niki Hieb and Kristina Gerbert. Great crew...stop by and see the store.Last week, we were in L.A., buying for Fall and saw some great new fashion from Flowers By zoe, Les Tout Petits, Little Mass and too many more to mention. We should have pics posted on the Facebook page soon. I had lunch at The Ivy and met Max and Karina from Dancing with the Stars, who were also waiting in line. I felt bad because I had all of these paparazzi running up to take my picture and I'm sure it annoyed those two; but what could I do?I'll try to be a little better about keeping up with this blog thing in the future, but for now, so long.

No, this blog isn't written by Kandi, our loveable store mascot...however she does a lot to keep the mood in our store playful and creative, allowing the rest of us to concentrate on buying and selling.
Some of the excitement this week was centered on our latest shipment of Flowers by Zoe 4/19/2008. We coudn't wait to open the boxes and call customer's for the new stuff.
